Dec. 2020: Thanks to the hard work our contractor, Haskell Lemon Construction Co., and engineer, LBR Inc., the airport's project to rehabilitate Runway 04-22 took first place in the in the OAPA’s Airport Design & Supervision category.
Feb. 2018: Federal Aviation Administration awarded SWO with its 2017 Oklahoma Regional Airport of the Year Award.
The award, according to the certificate, “recognizes airport sponsors that have created a positive safety culture, implemented sound and consistent capital planning, supported FAA initiatives and have enhanced safety at the airport.”
Feb. 2017: Team Stillwater beat 69 other small city airports in its category to take the top spot for the fourth quarter of 2016.
May 2017: Stillwater Regional Airport Director Gary Johnson and Operations Chief David Lyons were honored with the Partnership Award from Team Oklahoma of the Transportation Security Administration (DHS-TSA) at its second quarter awards and recognition ceremony on April 13. This award recognized Johnson and Lyon’s exceptional work to support the TSA agents serving at the airport.
The airport and Johnson were awarded again at the 2017 Oklahoma Airport Operators Association conference, where they received distinction as the Airport of the Year and Airport Manager of the Year, respectively.
