Unmanned Aircraft Systems or Drones

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or drones, have become a popular tool in many different arenas, from aerial photography to functioning as reconnaissance aircraft in disaster areas.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires individuals who operate a drone to register their unmanned aircraft and to notify the airport operator if flying within five miles of an airport. It is important to understand that once a drone leaves the ground, it’s entering airspace often occupied by other aircraft.
