MEDIA RELEASE

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Dec. 3, 2020) — It’s official: the Stillwater Regional Airport continues to be award-winning. Recently, LBR Inc. received notice that the airport’s project to rehabilitate Runway 04-22 won an award from the Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association (OAPA).

The project, which included mill and overlay of the runway and the installment of LED runway lights, took first place in the in the OAPA’s Airport Design & Supervision category.

“We’re honored to receive this prestigious award for our runway thanks to the excellent work our contractor, Haskell Lemon Construction Co., and engineer, LBR Inc., carried out,” Airport Director Paul Priegel said. “Besides being award-winning, this runway offers so much to SWO because it increases capacity for landings and take-offs.”

Before the project, the secondary runway was closed due to the surface conditions. The re-opening of this runway assists with the 80,000 landings and take-offs that the airport sees each year.

The bid for the runway’s construction was awarded to Haskell Lemon Construction Co. back in September of 2018 and was completed in August 2020.

The Stillwater Regional Airport is working on a few more projects to improve the facility and make room for expansion, including a three-phase apron reconstruction project and the purchase of new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Apparatus.
